Isobel Dennis

Isobel Dennis is the Managing Director of The New Craftmaker and formerly served as Director of the Collect Art Fair with the Crafts Council. With over 25 years of experience in the private sector organizing exhibitions in the cultural field, she was appointed Fair Director for Collect in June 2018 to bring commercial insight and expertise to the fair. Previously to this, her role involved overseeing a group of exhibitions and in particular the graduate event New Designers. She also held the interim position of Director of Audience at Design Museum overseeing the Ferrari, Alaia and LOEWE FOUNDATION exhibitions and events during this time.

David Glättli

David Glättli

After interdisciplinary studies in art, communication and Japanese language in his hometown of Zurich, David Glaettli was trained in industrial design in Milan and Lausanne, where he graduated from ECAL. He worked as a designer in Zurich before moving to Japan in 2008, where he joined the design studio of Teruhiro Yanagihara. In 2013, he founded his own practice in Kyoto and later transferred to Tokyo. Since 2021, ‘Studio David Glaettli’ is based in Zurich Switzerland. The studio specialises in creative direction, branding, curation, design consulting and design management for Japanese and international manufacturers, brands and institutions. David Glaettli was a guest tutor at Tama University, Tokyo and ECAL, Lausanne and the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. David Glaettli is the creative director of the brands Karimoku New Standard and Tajimi Custom Tiles. He is a creative advisor to Aji Project, Faust Linoleum and the Swiss Arts Council (Pro Helvetia). 2023-2025 he was a member of the Swiss Federal Design Commission and the jury of the Swiss Design Award.

Sin-Ying HO is currently a professor at Queens College, City University of New York. She also serves as Senior Advisor to the Taoxichuan Art Center in Jingdezhen, a member of the Advisory Board of Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, a board member of the Museum of Ceramic Art, New York (MoCA/NY), and a director of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). She has previously taught at Concordia University in Montreal, Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary, Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, Canada, and Southeastern Louisiana University in the United States. Her works have been exhibited internationally in countries and regions including the United States, Canada, China’s mainland, Taiwan region, and Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, France, Germany, Romania, India, Italy, and Turkey. Notably, her “Eden” series has been shown at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, California, and the Hood Museum of Art in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Xiaoxin LI is a curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London, specializing in Chinese decorative art and design. She holds a PhD in History of Art and Archaeology from SOAS University of London and serves on the board of the Oriental Ceramic Society (UK). Her research interests span modern and contemporary studio craft, late Qing Dynasty material culture, Chinese export art, ceramics, and furniture. In 2020, she was awarded the Art Fund New Collecting Award in the United Kingdom.

Bin LU graduated from the Department of Arts and Crafts at Nanjing University of the Arts and has spent over 30 years exploring contemporary ceramic art and traditional Chinese pottery techniques. He is currently a professor at the School of Design at Nanjing University of the Arts and a member of the UNESCO’s International Academy of Ceramics (IAC). His works have received numerous accolades, including the Bronze Award at the 9th National Art Exhibition of China, the Silver Prize at the 52nd Faenza Prize International Competition of Contemporary Ceramic Art in Italy, and the Jury Selection Award at the 1st Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale in Korea. As a filmmaker, he has also directed and produced ceramic-focused documentaries, earning the Cultural Heritage Award at the 7th International Festival of Ceramics and Glass Films and the Gold Prize at the 1st International Ceramics Film Festival in Spain. He leads a National Social Science Foundation project on traditional slab-building pottery techniques and their visual documentation, and is the author of the monograph “Southwest Ceramic Chronicles.”

Jude van der Merwe has over 40 years’ experience in the cultural and visual arts sectors and is an independent senior consultant, specialising in curatorial research, development and presentation, cultural development, arts and culture policy and strategy and public art development and implementation. In 2022 she was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to the arts. Current roles include President of the World Crafts Council – Asia Pacific Region and President World Crafts Council - Australia. She is a founding member and co-curator for the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (IOTA) Curiosity and Rituals of the Everyday 2021 and Codes in Parallel 2024 and is Curatorial Chair for IOTA27. Other curatorial work includes Meeandip/Garden Island, Rockingham Arts Centre 2023, Curatorial Adviser Peregrinations of a Citizen Botanist by Susie Vickery, Mundaring Arts Centre 2019; Midland Junction + Mundaring Arts Centres curator for Wildflower State (2019), Instrumental: the Distinct Pleasures of Tools (2018), The Habits of Horses (2017); Machines + Makers (2016) She was Executive Director of Artsource: the Artists Foundation of Western Australia 2004-2012; Manager of Artsource; the Artists Agency of Western Australia 2000-2004 and Director of the Mundaring Arts Centre 1994-2000.

Akito MORINO is a professor and Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kyoto City University of Arts, and Vice Chair of the Kiyomizu Pottery Complex Cooperative Association. He is also a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC). He has exhibited widely in Japan and internationally, with notable appearances at the Faenza International Biennial of Contemporary Art Ceramics in Italy, “100 Years of Contemporary Ceramics: The Development of Japanese Ceramic Art,” “A Century of Japanese Ceramics,” “Perspectives on Contemporary Crafts: The Power of Ornament,” and the Kyoto Ceramic Art Exhibition. His work has received numerous honors, including the Silver Prize at the 5th International Ceramics Festival Mino’98, the Kyoto City Best Emerging Artist Award, and the Takashimaya Art Prize.

an SU is a renowned designer, curator, and critic, and a recipient of the Order of the Star of Italy. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the China National Arts and Crafts Museum and China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, and is a doctoral advisor at both the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University and the Chinese National Academy of Arts. He is also President of the Interior Design Branch of the Architectural Society of China and Chair of the Environmental Design Art Committee of the China Artists Association. He previously served as Vice Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and as Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Art Museum. His work focuses on curatorial theory and practice for modern and contemporary art museums, innovative approaches to intangible cultural heritage preservation, and research into industrial heritage and the development of cultural and creative industries.

Representing China, Liya WAN is a member of the Council of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) affiliated to UNESCO. He is one of the pioneering Chinese artists engaged in contemporary ceramic art. Since establishing his personal studio in 1989, he has been closely involved in and witnessed over three decades of the modernization of Chinese ceramic art. In 1999, he participated in Ceramic Millennium in Amsterdam. In 2011, he took part in “The Hague under Heaven: Contemporary Sculpture from China” exhibition in The Hague, the Netherlands, and in the same year won the Silver Prize at the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale (GICB) in Korea—one of the highest international honors in ceramic art awarded to a Chinese artist. In 2019, his work “A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains” was acquired for the permanent collection of the British Museum. Over the years, he has initiated and curated a number of major international ceramic art exhibitions and projects. In 2025, he was invited to serve as President of the Jury for the International Biennale of Artistic Ceramics of Aveiro in Portugal. He is also the curator of the “Shiwan Cup” International Youth Ceramic Sculpture and Architectural Ceramics Award in China. Since his election to the IAC Council in 2020, he has played a key role in advancing Chinese ceramic art and fostering international exchange.

Kezhen WANG is a Chinese artist, independent curator, and Associate Professor at Nanjing University of the Arts, where he serves as Director of the Center for Modern Craft. As an artist, he has pursued constant innovation throughout his creative career spanning over a decade, actively participating in exhibitions and projects both in China and internationally. His works have been collected by institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in the United Kingdom, the China National Arts and Crafts Museum, and art organizations in Denmark and the Netherlands. In parallel with his artistic practice, he is also a dynamic curator, particularly in the fields of contemporary craft and contemporary jewelry. His curatorial projects include: “Non-craftsman: China Contemporary Crafts Exhibition” in Nanjing, China; “The Other Mountain: China Contemporary Jewelry Exhibition” at the National Centre for Craft & Design in the UK; New Chinese Contemporary Jewelry in Melbourne, Australia; “Triple Steps: China Contemporary Craft Nominations Exhibition”; and “Through the Garden Gate: Shanghai Contemporary Jewelry Exhibition.”

Guangrong WU is a professor at the China Academy of Art, specializing in the history of ceramics, craft history, folk art studies, and ceramic art practice. He currently teaches at the School of Crafts at the China Academy of Art, and serves as a member of the Academic Committee of the China National Arts and Crafts Society, as well as Deputy Director of its Theoretical Research Committee. He previously held positions as Deputy Director of the Art Museum of the China Academy of Art, Executive Director of the Folk Art Museum of the China Academy of Art, and Deputy Director of the Zisha Research Institute at the Chinese National Academy of Arts. He has co-curated a number of exhibitions, including “Masters of Modern Chinese Design,” the China Folk Art exhibition series, “The Eastern Bamboo: Asian Bamboo Life and Art Exhibition,” “Craftsmanship of Jiangnan: Contemporary Suzhou Gardens and the Art of Living,” and “Triple Steps: China Contemporary Craft Nominations Exhibition.”
